In a time shaped by screens, notifications and constant digital interruption, TAOO offers a physical way to mark time without returning to the device that so often fragments attention. Many people use their smartphone to support meditation, yoga, breathwork or focused work, the very device that most often pulls them back into notifications, apps and distraction. TAOO offers another form of timekeeping: physical, quiet, visible and audible.

At the center of the object is a slowly rotating disc, driven by a silent quartz movement. Gemstone marbles are placed on the disc to mark a moment, an interval or a transition. The disc completes one full rotation per hour and is structured in three-minute steps. Depending on where a marble is placed, the interval ranges from 3 to 57 minutes. As the disc turns, the marble moves almost imperceptibly toward its tipping point. At the end of the interval, it rolls inward and gently strikes a Japanese Rin bowl.

TAOO does not treat time as an abstract number. It presents time as a spatial condition. The interaction does not begin with tapping, swiping or programming, but with one deliberate gesture: placing a marble. This gesture marks a transition. A moment is chosen. An intention takes form.

In group settings, TAOO can act as a shared timekeeper: everyone can see that time is moving, while no one needs to check a display. In personal routines, it replaces the digital timer with an object that holds attention without demanding it.

Who is behind TAOO?

TAOO was created by Philipp Eibach, founder of The Rolling Now. Philipp began his creative work in digital spaces, with websites, apps and startups, before moving increasingly toward physical, spatial and kinetic experiences. To him, objects are a form of language. They can carry meaning without being loud; they can speak through material, movement, weight and sound.
