Object & Materials
What is TAOO?
TAOO is a physical meditation timer that makes time visible through movement rather than numbers. Instead of using a phone or digital app, a rotating disc carries marbles toward a Japanese Rin bowl. When a marble arrives, it triggers a gentle chime. Unlike most meditation timers, TAOO is entirely analogue and screen-free.
Is TAOO a clock?
No. TAOO does not display the current time of day. It measures duration. It is designed for meditation, deep work, yoga sessions, therapy sessions, and intentional pauses — not for checking the time.
What materials are used?
- CNC-machined aluminum body - Custom foam disc with soft-touch fabric surface - Natural gemstone or glass marbles - Japanese Rin bowl - Silent quartz clock movement The materials are selected for durability, tactile presence, and acoustic clarity.
Is TAOO handmade?
Yes. Each TAOO is produced in small series in Germany and assembled by hand. Every unit is individually inspected before shipment.
How large and heavy is TAOO?
190 × 190 × 74 mm Approx. 1.6 kg Compact enough for a desk or meditation altar. Substantial enough to feel grounded and stable.
Can I use my own marbles?
Yes — provided they are between 14-16mm in diameter and not too heavy. Many users integrate personal marbles, making TAOO a more individual ritual object.
Function & Use
How does TAOO measure time?
The disc completes one full rotation per hour. You place marbles into defined grooves. Each groove represents three minutes. When a marble reaches the bowl, it activates the chime. Time becomes visible as movement.
Can I set multiple intervals?
Yes. You can place multiple marbles on the disc simultaneously. This allows you to structure breathwork cycles, timeboxed work blocks, meditation phases, or group sessions. The interval system is a core differentiating feature of TAOO compared to most physical timers.
Is the movement audible?
No. TAOO uses a silent quartz movement. There is no ticking. The only sound is the chime at the end of an interval.
How loud is the chime?
The Japanese Rin bowl produces a clear, harmonious tone with a long natural decay. It is present but not intrusive — strong enough to gently close a session, yet subtle enough to preserve the atmosphere of the space.
Does TAOO require electricity or an app?
No. TAOO runs on a single AA battery (included). There is no app, no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, and no screen. It is intentionally offline.
How accurate is TAOO?
TAOO uses a standard quartz clock movement and is comparable in accuracy to a typical wall clock. It is designed for ritual timing and structured sessions — not second-level precision measurement.
Shipping & Care
Where do you ship?
We currently ship within Europe. International shipping is available upon request. If you are located outside Europe, please contact us before purchasing so we can confirm shipping options, costs, and customs details.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery typically takes 3–7 business days within Europe. Each TAOO is assembled by hand before shipping.
Can I return TAOO?
Yes. You have a 28-day return policy. If TAOO is not right for you, return it in its original condition for a full refund of the purchase price.
Is TAOO suitable for professional use?
Yes. TAOO is used in meditation spaces, yoga studios, osteopathy and therapy sessions, workshops, and deep work environments. It allows sessions to be structured without checking a phone or wall clock.
How do I know when to replace the battery?
On the underside of TAOO, a small gear indicates that the clockwork is running. As long as this gear is turning, the mechanism is active. One battery typically lasts several months. If the gear stops moving, it is time to replace the battery. To do so, remove the two small screws on the underside using the included Allen key. Lift off the cover, replace the battery, then reattach the cover and tighten the screws securely.
Can I have my name engraved on TAOO?
Yes. Name engraving is available as an optional upgrade and can be added during the ordering process. Personal engraving allows you to mark TAOO as your own — or dedicate it as a meaningful gift. Because each unit is produced in small batches, engraving is integrated directly into the production process.
